Mililani's Kellen Inafuku, 20, bowled a 300 — his fourth sanctioned perfect game — on Feb. 25 at Hickam Bowling Center.
Inafuku bowls in the Hawai'i Jr. All Stars, a recently formed league that provides scholarship money for bowlers, according to league organizer Lynne Ono. The league bowls Saturdays at Hickam.
GANOB, 9, ROLLS 279 AT LEEWARD BOWL
Denny Jay Ganob, 9, of Ka'i-miloa Elementary School, bowled a 279 game at Leeward Bowl on Jan. 28 during club bowling.
The son of Darren and Lilia Ganob has been bowling since he was 6 and has a 130 average.
Denny Jay, a member of the Leeward Junior Bowling Club for the past three years, started his big game with a spare.
He then rolled nine consecutive strikes, followed by a 10-pin tap, making his spare to finish at 279.
Denny Jay will be inducted into the Leeward Junior Bowling Club's Hall of Fame for his 279 game.
SMITH, 12, TO MAKE KICKBOXING DEBUT
Jacob Smith, 12, will make his national debut in kickboxing when he fights on a card Sunday at Master Toddy's Gym in Las Vegas.
Smith, a seventh-grader at Kailua Christian Academy, is the son of Bob Smith, a light heavyweight kickboxing champion for 11 years, who now runs Smith Taekwondo in Hawai'i.
The younger Smith already is a national champion in tae-kwondo, and took up kickboxing about a year ago.
Jacob Smith is scheduled to fight a 16-year-old from California, according to his father.
THREE CAPTURE MEDALS AT HONG KONG EVENT
Three area martial artists from the Xia Xing Wu Shu club in Honolulu won medals at the Hong Kong Wu Shu International Festival on Feb. 12-14.
Lok Leng Chu Kong of Honolulu won three gold medals in Chen Taiji 56 Form, Five Family Taiji 42 Form and in the Taiji Jian 42 Form.
Zhi Jian Cai of Honolulu won a gold (Chen Taiji 56 Form), silver (Yang Taiji 40 Form) and bronze (Taiji Jian 42 Form).
Wahiawa's Sarah Minato won gold in Yang Taiji 40 Form and finished fourth in the Five Family Taiji 42 Form.
