Donations
Several Hawai‘i community groups with ties to Japan are accepting donations for families of the victims of the Ehime Maru accident and for the Uwajima Fisheries High School.
Donations may be made at any First Hawaiian Bank branch. Checks can also be mailed to First Hawaiian Bank, P.O. Box 3200, Honolulu, HI 96847.
The Japan-America Society of Hawaii, Japanese Cultural Center, Japanese Chamber of Commerce, United Japanese Society of Hawaii and KIKU-TV are asking the public to contribute to the fund.
Honolulu police have warned about a possible telephone scam that seeks cash donations for the Ehime Maru Fund.
People may contact the Japan-America Society at 524-4450 to verify information about organizations that have joined the effort. Any organization that wishes to join the fund-raising effort should call the same number.
