A shortage of flowers will keep the city from its goal of 50,000 lei for Memorial Day.
The city collects the lei for the graves of veterans at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific and the state Veterans Cemetery in Kaneohe.
About 60 seniors sewed plumeria lei this morning at the Makua Alii Senior Center in Waikiki.
Seniors are expected to make 2,500 lei today.
"Anyone with flowers should come by here by 11 a.m.," said Steve Santiago of the city's Department of Parks and Recreation. "We are very short of flowers."
Santiago said people can bring flowers to 1541 Kalakaua Ave.
