Castle senior Keola Jarrett, a workhorse third baseman/pitcher, won Player of the Year honors in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association's Red Conference Eastern Division after a recent vote of league coaches.

Jarrett helped the Knights finish 8-4 and in third place.

He led them to a key series sweep against Moanalua with a solo home run and save in the first game and a pair of two-run homers in the rematch. Jarrett also went 4 for 4 with four RBIs against division champ Kailua.

Moanalua led the way with six players on the OIA Red East all-star first team: first baseman Ryan Cortez, shortstop Tim Arakawa, outfielders Miles Higa and Bronson Shim, pitcher Zachary Manago and designated hitter Kamalu Kamoku.

Kailua was next with three first-team selections: second baseman Jared Iha, outfielder Kory Sasaoka and utility player Alika Ramseyer-Ho. Roosevelt catcher Cameron Fuchigami and pitcher Billy Kamau round out the first team.

Roosevelt's Matt Apana was named Coach of the Year in his first season at the helm after guiding the Rough Riders to a surprising regular season that started out 7-1 and finished as the East runner-up.
