Better get those leis early, as dozens of high schools and colleges begin holding commencement ceremonies today.
The biggest single event is tomorrow when about 2,400 University of Hawai'i-Mānoa graduates will receive diplomas in two ceremonies.
About 1,600 bachelor candidates are eligible to attend the undergraduate ceremony at 9 a.m. and nearly 800 graduate degree candidates will walk the line at 3 p.m.
Maya Soetoro-Ng, sister of President Obama and education specialist at the East-West Center, will be the commencement speaker for both ceremonies.
Doors to the Stan Sheriff Center will open at 8 a.m. for the undergraduate ceremony and at 2 p.m. for the advanced degree ceremony. Both events are free and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Balloons and strollers are not allowed inside the arena.
Free parking will be available in the parking structure, which will open at 6 a.m. For more information, go to http://manoa.hawaii.edu/commencement.
