Advertiser Staff

Kauai firefighters got a warehouse fire in Puhi fully extinguished by 4 p.m. today, a county news release says. And police have now reopened Puhi Road between Kaumuali'i Highway and Kaneka Road.

The fire at the Kauai Freight Service warehouse was reported at 4:44 a.m.

Units from the Lihue, Kalaheo, Koloa, Kapaa and Hanapepe fire stations responded.

There are no reports of injury.

A preliminary report found damage to the 13,000-square-foot corrugated metal warehouse and its contents is estimated to be in the millions.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this point.

The building houses Kaua'i Freight, which occupies about half of the building; Beachside Roofing; Hamco; and a surfboard and boat repair shop.
