Polo match features Shanghai club players

Two members of the Shanghai Polo Club will be participating in Sunday's polo match at Mokulē'ia.

Clark Shi and Todd Fourtner of the Shanghai club will join two other Hawai'i players to play Equus Hotel at the Hawai'i Polo Club's oceanfront field.

It will be the second match of the day, with the first featuring Hawai'i teams.

The Hawai'i Polo Club season at Mokulē'ia is held each Sunday through Aug. 15. Each week's event boasts a variety of food vendors, full bar in the club area, a skydiving exhibition at halftime and live music at sunset.

Gates open at noon, with the first match starting around 2:30 p.m. Admission is $8 per person ($5 with military ID).

HOOPS SHOOTING, SUMMER CLINIC

Performance Basketball Clinics will hold two clinics, the first for shooting and the other for the summer, at Maryknoll's Clarence T.C. Ching Gymnasium.

The shooting fundamentals clinic will be May 29 and 31 for boys and girls 7 to 18. The first session is from 8 to 10:15 a.m. and the second session from 10:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

A six-week summer clinic for boys and girls will be held on June 5, 12, 19 and 26, and July 3 and 10. The youth session (ages 7-11) will run from to 9:30 a.m. with the boys (12-18) advanced skills session from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and the girls advanced skills session from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

NBA ROOKIE HERE FOR HOOPS CAMP

NBA Sacramento Kings rookie Jon Brockman will be the special guest/coach for the Hawai'i Island Hoops' 2K10 College-Prep Basketball Camp to be held from May 31 to June 4 at the Kekuaokalani Gym in Kailua, Kona.

Brockman, a 6-foot-7, 255-pound post player, was an All-American at the University of Washington in 2008-09 and was selected 38th overall in the NBA draft.

He also was the recipient of the Chip Hilton Player of the Year Award, conferred to the nation's top player demonstrating outstanding character, leadership, and athletic talent.
