Man arrested on suspicion of participating in beating

A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a January attack in 'Ewa Beach in which two men were beaten by a pair of assailants armed with a bat and a pipe.

Police arrested one suspect, a 21-year-old man Saturday morning near the victim's home on suspicion of two counts of second-degree assault.

The second suspect in the case, a 19-year-old man, has not been located.

The beating occurred around 11:30 p.m. Jan. 24 when a 34-year-old 'Ewa Beach man approached the 21-year-old suspect to complain about noise from a party the suspect was having.

Police said the suspect allegedly hit the victim with a metal bat. The second suspect joined in and beat the victim with a metal pipe, police said. The victim suffered serious injuries, they said.

According to police, a 31-year-old man witnessed the assault and tried to help the victim. He, too, was beaten by the two suspects, they said.
