BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Authorities say NFL linebacker Joey Porter has been arrested in Bakersfield on suspicion of drunk driving, assault on an officer and resisting arrest.
The California Highway Patrol says the 33-year-old Porter was uncooperative when confronted by officers early Saturday in a Taco Bell parking lot.
Porter refused to provide his drivers license and began to roll up the driver's side window when asked to exit the car. The CHP says Porter slapped an officer's hand when he reached into the vehicle to unlock the door.
The 11-year NFL veteran eventually got out and complied with orders to place his hands behind his back. He was arrested along with a passenger.
Porter recently signed a deal with the Arizona Cardinals. He has played for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Miami Dolphins.
