Preliminary court hearing set for woman in Nuuanu murder case

A preliminary court hearing has been scheduled in the murder case filed against Claudia Warner-Gonzales, accused in the stabbing death of her 88-year-old mother Monday.

"I stabbed my mom. Forgive me, I stabbed her," Warner-Gonzales, 61, allegedly told police immediately after the homicide.
Dorothy Stribling was killed at her Nuuanu Valley home on Rosebank Avenue.
A police affidavit filed in the case said Warner-Gonzales was interviewed in the living room of the home.
Warner-Gonzales is charged with second-degree murder.
In District Court this morning, defense attorney Samuel P. King Jr. waived his client’s initial appearance.
Judge Colette Garibaldi ordered a preliminary hearing in the case, although Warner-Gonzales may be indicted by a grand jury in the meantime.
The police affidavit filed in court by prosecutors does not provide a motive for the attack.
Stribling's son, Sam Warner, who lives in the home, told police he heard a scream and found his sister standing over the victim. He said he removed the 9-inch knife that was lodged in their mother's left shoulder and placed it in the kitchen sink, the affidavit said.
Stribling was taken to The Queen's Medical Center, where she died.
According to an autopsy report from the city Medical Examiner, Stribling bled to death from a stab wound to the chest.
