Punahou School graduate Gib Arnold is expected to be named the new University of Hawai‘i men's basketball coach as soon as Saturday.

Arnold, a former USC assistant coach, and Saint Mary's associate head coach Kyle Smith were the finalists to replace Bob Nash.
The 40-year old Arnold and Smith were two of the seven candidates to interview for the job.
Arnold's father, Frank, was the UH head coach from 1985-87.
