With the skills to match their leadership abilities, Allyson Holtz and Karli Look were instrumental in leading Punahou to the Interscholastic League of Honolulu soccer title.

"She created a lot of opportunities for Punahou," 'Iolani coach Kristin Masunaga said of Holtz. "She's really aggressive and very fast."

Holtz, the ILH Offensive Player of the Year, scored 12 goals and was always seen as "a threat," Masunaga said.

Look, the ILH Defensive Player of the Year, transitioned to a more defensive role in the midfield this year to help stabilize an entirely new Buffanblu defense that would go on to allow six goals, tied for the league low.

"She's very composed," Masunaga said. "Obviously she has a lot of experience. She's a smart player. She had a young defense behind her, and she must be a great leader and her teammates must trust her. She obviously led that defense."

Buffanblu joining Look and Holtz on the first team are Lahaina Zoller, a forward who led the league with 13 goals, defender Kylie Chun and goalkeeper Anuhea Kahele-Manners.

'Iolani placed four on the first team: forward Elissa Minamishin (7 goals), midfielder Krystal Pascua (6) and defenders Ashley Park-Hunt and Kelsey Hung.

Kamehameha placed two, forward Caprice Dydasco (6 goals) and midfielder Courtney-Rae Botelho (7).

Sacred Hearts midfielder Logan Chan, who scored four goals, and Pac-Five defender Kendal Kagawa were also named to the first team. Holtz, Botelho, Pascua and Zoller are all repeat first-teamers. Dydasco, Look, Chan and Kagawa were second-team selections last season.

Masunaga, named Coach of the Year in her first season, led the Raiders to a runner-up finish in the ILH, and a state tournament berth for the first time since 1999, when she was a player.
