A 13-year-old Kaneohe boy was arrested yesterday as a suspect in a sexual assault case involving a 6-year-old girl, who police described as a family member.

Police said the girl reported being assaulted this past Feb. 24 and some time during the period between June 3 and Dec. 23 in 2009.
The boy was brought to the main Police Station yesterday by family members and was arrested on suspicion of four counts of first-degree sexual assault and three counts of third-degree sexual assault.
A petition has been filed with Family Court to take up the matter, police said.
