Skiing: Russian skier banned for refusing drug test

OBERHOFEN, Switzerland— The International Ski Federation has banned Russian cross-country skier Elena Vedeneeva from competing for two years after she refused to take a drug test.
The FIS said Vedeneeva would not give a sample to a World Anti-Doping Agency testing team when training last November.
The 38-year-old Vedeneeva was never a prominent skier, and only has four career World Cup starts.
The governing body said Vedeneeva retired from the sport before serving the ban, which would have been completed in December 2011.
Four Russian cross-country skiers received two-year bans last year after testing positive for EPO and a fifth was dropped from the Vancouver Olympics team after being caught using the banned hormone.
