Free H1N1 flu vaccinations offered in Kalihi, Wai'anae

Advertiser Staff

The state Health Department will be offering free H1N1 flu vaccinations next week in Kalihi and Wai'anae.

Officials will administer the vaccine from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at Palama Settlement and at 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Wai'anae High School.

"It's not too late to get vaccinated. H1N1 is still a threat," state Health Director Chiyome Fukino said in a news release. "Now that there is ample vaccine supply, it's crucial everyone gets vaccinated as an important preventative measure. And this is a great opportunity for parents to make sure their kids under 10 get a second dose."

Both clinics are free and open to the public.

As of February, about 643,300 does of H1N1 vaccine have been allocated to Hawaiʻi. Of that amount, more than 563,100 doses have either shipped or are in transit to Hawaiʻi for providers.
