Real property assessment notices going out soon on Maui

Advertiser Staff

Maui homeowners will soon be getting their real property assessment notices. The County of Maui Real Property Tax Division announced today that the 2010 notices will be mailed to property owners on or before Monday.

The real property assessment notice will show the taxable value of the land and (if applicable) improvements, the amount of allowed exemptions, the classification assigned to the property and the net taxable value of the property.

Property owners can call 808-270-7297 if they have any questions. If a property owner disagrees with the assessment, general land class or exemption included in their real property assessment notice, they may file an appeal with the Board of Review or the Tax Appeal Court by April 9.

The county is reminding property owners that the assessment notice is not a bill; the first half installment for the 2010-2011 fiscal year will be mailed on or before July 20.

For those who do not receive an assessment notice, call 808-270-7297 or view assessment information at www.mauipropertytax.com.
