Traffic-safety event planned tomorrow at Kaahumanu Elementary

Advertiser Staff

More than 50 Farmers Insurance Hawaii staff members will be holding a Hot Spots traffic-safety event at Kaahumanu Elementary tomorrow morning along with the school community and HPD’s Community Policing Team from District 1.

They will be lining the sidewalks from 7 to 8 a.m. to alert drivers to watch out for children crossing the streets to school, which is in the middle of some of Honolulu’s busiest roadways – Kinau, Pensacola, Piikoi and Beretania streets.
This past Christmas, a toddler was hit at the busy drop-off area behind the school on Kinau Street. Kaahumanu administrators had sought community help to remind drivers to slow down along the main thoroughfare.
