Basketball races still up in the air

The Pacific West Conference basketball regular season comes to a close this week with several big games on the docket.

In the men's race, Dixie State, Hawai'i Pacific and BYU-Hawai'i remain in contention for the PacWest championship while HPU, Grand Canyon, Dixie State and Notre Dame de Namur are in the mix for the women's title.

HPU visits Grand Canyon Thursday and Dixie State Saturday, while BYU-Hawai'i has road games at Dominican today, Academy of Art Thursday and Notre Dame de Namur Saturday.

Last Saturday's games between HPU and BYU-Hawai'i (men's and women's) at Mid-Pacific Institute were postponed due to the statewide tsunami warning. A possible make-up date could be Monday — after both teams return from their respective road trips — but a venue has yet to be confirmed, according to HPU sports information director John Barry.

The Chaminade-Hilo basketball games will be played Monday at UHH gym. The women will play at 5:30 p.m.; followed by the men at 7:30. The games were postponed Saturday.
