Woman kidnapped from Ala Moana Center by purse snatchers

Two women took matters into their own hands and one of them wound up being kidnapped yesterday when their purses were snatched while they were eating about 4:30 p.m. in the Food Court at Ala Moana Center.

The women, ages 25 and 27, told police two girls, who appeared to be 16 to 18 years old, grabbed the purses off their chairs and ran to a waiting four-door sedan.

Police said the two women chased the purse snatchers and one of them jumped into the getaway vehicle behind the two girls.

At that point, a boy, estimated to be 17 to 18 years old, got in behind her, blocking her escape, the woman told police.

The woman said the two girls assaulted her in the car as she was being driven around. She was later released some distance from the shopping center and was able to call police from a nearby home.

Police said the woman had minor injuries but declined medical treatment,

The other woman, who stayed behind at the shopping center, was not injured, police said

The two girls and the boy, who are wanted on suspicion of second-degree robbery and kidnapping, had not been identified or located as of this morning.
