Police yesterday were seeking the driver of a car that hit a motorcycle on H-1 Freeway early yesterday morning in the Punchbowl area and fled the scene.

The operator of the motorcycle, a 37-year-old Waipahu man, was in fair condition with a broken ankle. The injured rider originally had been taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition.

The collision took place shortly after midnight.

Police said the motorcycle was traveling west-bound and approaching the Ward Avenue overpass when a white Toyota sedan hit it from behind.

Witnesses told police that they had seen the car speeding and weaving.

Police said the motorcycle operator was wearing a helmet and that speeding, alcohol or drugs were not factors in his actions.
