Honolulu police are seeking the driver of a car that struck a motorcycle on H-1 Freeway last night and then fled the scene.

The operator of the motorcycle — a 37-year-old Waipahu man — is in fair condition with a broken ankle. He originally had been taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition.

The collision took place shortly after midnight.

Police say the motorcycle was heading west and approaching the Ward Avenue overpass when it was hit from behind by a white Toyota sedan.

Witnesses told police the car had been speeding and weaving.

Police said the motorcycle operator was wearing a helmet and that speed, alcohol or drugs were not factors in his actions.
