CFB: SMU player suspended after arrest on rape charge

DALLAS — SMU backup defensive lineman Torlan Pittman has been suspended indefinitely following his arrest on a rape charge.
Huntsville police Capt. Wes Altom says the 20-year-old Pittman and another man accused of raping a woman in September at a Huntsville apartment were arrested Monday. It wasn’t immediately clear Tuesday whether Pittman was still being held.
Altom said he had no information on an attorney for Pittman.
Pittman and 20-year-old Sean Curtis Weatherford are charged with aggravated sexual assault. Weatherford, who was arrested in College Station, is a former baseball player at Sam Houston State in Huntsville.
SMU spokesman Brad Sutton said Pittman had been suspended by coach June Jones. Pittman played in all 13 games last season.
