The University of Hawai'i' women's basketball team led for most of the game, then lost the lead down the stretch and fell to Boise State, 73-64, last night in a Western Athletic Conference game at Boise, Idaho.

Hawai'i's Dita Liepkalne hit a jumper to tie the score at 57-57 with 3:18 remaining. Boise State's Jessica Van Hoogen then hit a jumper with 2:40 left to start an 8-1 run, capped by Tasha Harris' two free throws that made it 65-58 with 1:13 left.

Leilani Galdones' jumper with 58 seconds left cut it to 65-60, but Julia Marshall hit two free throws and Rebecca Kepilino made a steal and layup with 33 seconds remaining to clinch it for Boise State (13-6, 2-3 WAC).

Breanna Arbuckle scored 16 points and Liepkalne added 13 for the Rainbow Wahine (8-12, 2-5 WAC), who led by eight early in the second half and 55-50 with 7:34 left. Keisha Kanekoa added nine points before fouling out and Rebecca Dew scored all eight of her points in the second half for Hawai'i, which has not won a WAC road game this season.

The Rainbow Wahine outshot the Broncos, 38 to 32 percent, but had 18 turnovers to the Broncos' 12.

Van Hoogen and Harris scored 16 points each to lead Boise State. Kepilino added 12 points, and Janie Bos and Marshall had 10 apiece. Boise State converted 25 of 30 free throws while Hawai'i was 13 of 19.

Hawai'i held Boise State to 24-percent shooting in the first half and led 30-26 at intermission.

The Rainbow Wahine return for three straight WAC games, starting Wednesday against San Jose State (5-13, 1-4 WAC), which won its first league game, 58-53, at Idaho last night.

Fresno State (15-5, 6-0 WAC) beat Louisiana Tech, 71-61, for its seventh straight win last night, taking control of first place in the WAC. Fresno State beat second-place Nevada (4-1) on Thursday.
