Waipahu boxer Brian Viloria is in good condition, but will remain in a hospital in the Philippines for at least two more nights for observation, his manager said today.

Viloria was rushed to the hospital following a 12th round TKO loss to Colombia's Carlos Tamara on Friday night. Viloria collapsed in his locker room after the bout.

Gary Gittelsohn, Viloria's manager, said: "Brian's condition is good — all his tests have returned normal and it is likely that his scary collapse in the dressing room following a brutal fight was the result of a concussion and/or dehydration."

Viloria lost his IBF light flyweight world championship to Tamara. The bout was staged at the Cuneta Astrodome in Manila, and received extensive coverage in the Philippines.

Several media outlets followed Viloria to the hospital and provided live updates on Filipino television stations.

Viloria dropped to 26-3 with the first loss via knockout in his nine-year career. Tamara improved to 21-4 with the 15th knockout of his career.

Viloria was raised in Waipahu, but now lives in California and trains in Oxnard.

According to Gittelsohn, Viloria will not be cleared to fly home for approximately 10 to 14 days.
