Honolulu police arrested a 20-year-old woman who crashed her vehicle into a car stopped at a traffic light while trying to evade police.
The collision occurred at 9:17 p.m. near the intersection of Nimitz Highway and Waikamilo Road.
According to the Honolulu Police Department's Traffic Division, a patrol officer spotted the woman in a four-door Honda driving erratically and failing to stop at a stop sign. The officer attempted to pull over the car using his lights and siren but the woman sped off down Nimitz Highway and eventually crashed into a four-door Mitsubishi.
The woman attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by police. She was arrested for negligent injury, failure to render aid and refusal to stop for a police officer.
The five occupants of the Mitsubishi were taken to a nearby trauma center. The 19-year-old male driver and two female passengers, age 19 and 11, were listed in fair condition. Two other passengers, an 11-year-old girl and a 1-year-old boy, were initially listed in serious condition then later upgraded to fair condition.
Police said speed and drugs were likely factors in the collision.
