Obama nominates Miyamoto as U.S. marshal for Hawaii

President Obama on Wednesday nominated Gervin K. Miyamoto as U.S. marshal for the District of Hawaii.
It was one of five appointments to U.S. marshal positions nationwide by Obama on Wednesday.

Miyamoto is the law enforcement coordinator for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Honolulu, a position he has held since 1999.
He served with the Honolulu Police Department from 1971 to 1999, and rose to the rank of lieutenant. From 1996 to 1999, Miyamoto was activated to serve with the Hawaii Air National Guard as its counterdrug coordinator. He served with the Hawaii Army National Guard from 1968 to 1970.
Miyamoto received a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix in 1999. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Chaminade University in 1980 and an Associate’s degree in Police Science from Honolulu Community College in 1976.
