Obamas’ Harvard mentor to speak at UH

Prominent legal theorist Charles Ogletree, who taught both President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama at Harvard, will present his views on “America's Future under the Obama Administration” this week at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
This free event is set for 2 p.m. at the campus, 2515 Dole St., and is open to the public. Seating is limited; a live feed overflow classroom will be provided.
Ogletree, who has remained close to President Obama throughout his political career, is a prolific writer with an international reputation as an expert on race and justice. He holds the Jesse Climenko Professor of Law Chair and serves as Executive Director of the Charles Hamilton Houston Institute for Race and Justice at Harvard Law School.
Ogletree earned an M.A. and B.A. (with distinction) in political science from Stanford University, and holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School, where he served as special projects editor of the Harvard Civil Rights - Civil Liberties Law Review.
He holds honorary doctorates from North Carolina Central University, New England School of Law, Tougaloo College, Amherst College, Wilberforce University, and the University of Miami, School of Law.
