Two Wahiawa events to celebrate cherry blossom season

Cherry blossoms will soon be in full bloom in Wahiawä, heralding two events to celebrate the season. The first is the Sakura Matsuri, from 7 to 9 p.m. Jan. 30 at Wahiawa Hongwanji, 1067 California Ave.

The event, sponsored by the United Japanese Society of Hawaii and the Wahiawa Nikkei Civic Association, will feature Japanese cultural entertainment, a drawing for a cherry blossom tree, food and the Cherry Blossom Court.
The cost is $5 for admission; call Evelyn at 621-3659 for tickets.
The following weekend a Sakura Safari-Hana Mi will offer trolley tour rides through Wahiawä to view cherry blossom trees and lunch with tours at 9 and 11 a.m. Feb. 6 beginning at the Wahiawa Ryusenji Soto Mission, 164 California Ave.
The cost is $18 for the tour and $5 for a Kitchen Delight bento. Reservations are required and seating is limited.
