Rainbow Wahine claim all six spots on WAC All-Decade volleyball team

Led by top vote-getters, Kim Willoughby and Kanoe Kamana’o, the University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine took all six spots on the Western Athletic Conference All-Decade Volleyball Team, the league announced today.

Willoughby was the leading vote-getter, being named to 715 ballots, followed closely by Kamana]o with 696 votes.
The other Rainbow Wahine on the team are Aneli Cubi-Otineru, Kanani Danielson, Jamie Houston and Lily Kahumoku.
Nearly 1,000 fans voted online over the last month for players who had been on at least two all-WAC teams between 2000 and 2009.
Aneli Cubi-Otineru
Played for Hawai'i from 2007-09 ... earned American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) third team All-America honors in 2009 and was an honorable mention selection in '08 ... two-time first team AVCA All-West Region pick and three-time first team all-WAC honoree ... named to the NCAA Regional team in 2009.
Kanani Danielson
Has played two seasons for the Rainbow Wahine ... named to the AVCA All-America first team in 2009 and third team in 2008 as a freshman ... named WAC Player of the Year in 2009 and WAC Freshman of the Year in 2008 ... also named the AVCA West Region Freshman of the Year in 2008 ... named to the NCAA Regional team in both 2008 and 2009, earning Most Outstanding Player honors as a sophomore.
Jamie Houston
Played for UH from 2005-08 ... earned AVCA third team All-America honors in 2006 and second team honors in 2008 ... averaged 5.49 kills per set, ranking sixth in the NCAA statistics in 2006 ... two-time WAC Player of the Year (2007, '08) ... Three-time first team all-region and first team all-WAC honoree (2006-08) ... named to the all-WAC second team in 2005 ... ranks second in career kills (2,061) and fourth in kills per set (4.74) in the WAC record book ... member of three NCAA Regional team (2005, '06, '08).
Lily Kahumoku
Played for Hawai'i from 1999-2000 and 2002-03 ... three-time AVCA first team All-American (2000, '02, '03) ... 2000 WAC Player of the Year ... One of three four-time first team all-WAC honorees in conference history ... ranks fifth in career kills (1,822) and kills per set (4.43) in the WAC record book ... member of three NCAA semifinalist teams (2000, '02, '03).
Kanoe Kamana'o
Played for UH from 2003-06 ... one of UH's two four-time All-Americans ... earned AVCA Freshman of the Year and third team All-America honors in 2003 ... named AVCA first team All-America in 2004 ... garnered AVCA third team All-America honors in 2005 ... named AVCA first team All-American in 2006 ... three-time WAC Player of the Year (2004, '05, '06) ... One of three four-time first team all-WAC honorees in conference history ... WAC career assist (6,428) and assists per set (13.62) leader ... Ranks seventh in the NCAA in career assists and eighth in assists per set ... member of 2003 NCAA semifinalist team.
Kim Willoughby
Played for the Rainbow Wahine from 2000-03 ... three-time AVCA first team All-American (2001-03) ... named AVCA and Volleyball Magazine National Player of the Year in 2003 ... first woman to win back-to-back Joe Kearney Awards (2002-03, '03-04) as the WAC's top female athlete ... WAC career leader in kills (2,598) and kills per set (5.92) ... WAC Player of the Year three times (2001-03) ... ranks third in the NCAA record books in career kills per set and sixth in career kills ... owns NCAA single-season records for kills (850, 2001) and kills per set (7.20, 2001) ... member of three NCAA semifinalist teams (2000, '02, '03).
