Business plans vie for cash awards

Advertiser Staff

Awards ranging from $4,000 to $16,000 along with communications services are being offered under a nonprofit organization business plan competition being sponsored by Chaminade University's Hogan Entrepreneurial Program and American Savings Bank.

The fourth annual competition is open to nonprofit organizations planning to start new ventures benefiting society. The goal of the competition is to foster excellence in nonprofit work, along with stimulating public interest in the sector's work.

A Feb. 5 deadline has been set for entrants to signal their interest in participating by submitting a one-page summary of their proposed venture.

The business plans can be for a new nonprofit organization, program or for-profit subsidiary that will generate positive social outcomes.

The top business plan will be awarded $16,000, with second place getting $6,000 and third-place $4,000.

The winner of the "most compelling" prize will receive 100 hours of integrated communications services from Loomis-ISC. The awards will be announced April 21.

Nonprofit groups interested in the competition can call 739-4673 with questions. American Savings has provided a $25,000 grant for the competition.
