SEE YOU IN THE GINZA DISTRICT

Is it just us, or is the crew of young guys that own Tsunami and new spot Ka Restaurant & Lounge well on their way to building a nightlife empire in Honolulu? As if two bar-club-restaurants aren't enough, the Tsunami crew has expanded yet again with last weekend's soft opening of Ginza Nightclub. The new after-hours party stop, named for the high-end shopping district in Japan, is already packing in the people. It was supposed to be a members-only club, but they can't keep the crowds at bay so it's open to everyone. For now, at least. Get there while they're still letting in the masses and see what all the hype is about.

SOJA, or the Soldiers of Jah Army, will be back in Honolulu at 8 p.m. Thursday (Pipeline Café, $25 general, $45 VIP, www.groovetickets.com, 877-714-7668). The band released its third album "Born in Babylon" in August of 2009.

HIGH STEAKS

After just a few weeks in business, people are saying it's the best steakhouse in town. See if they're right with a steak and a stack of onion rings, courtesy of the newly opened BLT Steak restaurant (683-7440) in the new Trump International Hotel & Tower Waikiki.

WACKY WEATHER

One of last year's hit animated films, "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs," will be released on DVD and Blu-ray Tuesday. Based on the popular kids' book of the same name, the film is the story of a town that gets pelted with food. It's pretty much the best thing since sliced bread.

A QUIET FIRST FRIDAY

These days, First Friday is a madhouse of crowds and parties. With the party people still in recovery from last night, today's First Friday art walk (5-9 p.m. downtown) will be a mellow affair. Perfect for the crowd-shy.
