Stranded kayaker rescued at Maunalua Bay

Rescue crews pulled a stranded kayaker from the waters offshore of Maunalua Bay Sunday morning, HFD Capt. Earle Kealoha said.
According to the HFD report:
An rescue watercraft brought the man ashore about noon. The man, who was in his 50s, may have been taking part in a kayak race that was being held in the bay.
The 11:30 a.m. call for help originated from another man who, after assisting the stranded kayaker, came ashore to make the 9-11 call. The caller said the man’s kayak came apart leaving him stranded.
HFD, Ocean Safety and the Coast Guard responded with watercraft and a helicopter.
