The dream of a 10-year-old is the inspiration behind today’s Celebration of Differences Awareness Fair at Washington Middle School.

The family fun day embraces “Maile’s Dream,” referring to Äliamanu Elementary student Maile Ogata’s dream that people be judged by their character, not physical appearance. Maile was born with Apert’s syndrome, a genetic disorder that can lead to facial and limb anomalies.
Part of the funds raised will go to Easter Seals Hawaii. The 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. fair is free and open to the public. 836-1490, www.eastersealshawaii.org.
