Men in heels! Join UH coaches, athletes in march against gender violence

Advertiser Staff

Those wanting to take part in a critical cause, and see men march in heels and pink slippers, can join the University of Hawai'i Athletics Department, in conjunction with the Women’s Center and the PAU Violence Program, today at “Walk a Mile In Her Shoes.”

The internationally recognized men’s march, organized to stop rape, sexual assault and gender violence, will be at UH Campus Center Courtyard, near the bookstore.
UH Athletic Director Jim Donovan and football coach Greg McMackin will speak at 11:30 am.
Basketball coach Bob Nash, volleyball coach Charlie Wade and baseball coach Mike Trapasso will also be there along with student-athletes and staff members.
The men's march will begin at noon. The event is to show the school’s support for bringing “greater awareness towards the fight in preventing violence against women on campus and in the community.”
It is also designed to help open communication about sexual violence and emphasize that it does not just affect women but also the men, family and friends who care about
them.
Men are invited to participate. Shoes will be provided. All women and men can show their support by encouraging walkers along the march route.
