IHOP is giving away free, short stacks of pancakes today from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. It's a fundraiser for the Children's Miracle Network. Every Tuesday in 2010, at every Hot Dog On a Stick location, a Hot Dog On A Stick is only $1. And through this Friday, buy a 2- or 3-entree plate at Panda Express and receive a serving of Firecracker Chicken for free. For that one you'll need a coupon (print it at www.honoluluonthecheap.com).

Get a bird's-eye view of Hawai'i tomorrow with Jim Jacobi, principal investigator of the U.S. Geological Survey Pacific Island Ecosystems Research Center.

Hawai'i has been home to more than 100 bird species, some of which are now extinct or critically endangered. Jacobi will be giving a free lecture on what the research center is doing to protect Hawai'i's unique species and ecosystems. The lecture is 6 to 7:30 p.m. at ING Direct Cafe at 1958 Kalākaua Ave. Visit www.hawaiiconservation.org/hcalectures.asp for more information.
