Cecilio Rodriguez faces DUI charge

Cecilio Rodriguez, half of the popular Island singing group Cecilio and Kapono, was arrested late Thursday for allegedly driving while under influence of an intoxicant.

It was Rodriguez's second arrest for drunken driving in three years. In July 2007, the 65-year-old singer was found guilty of operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant.

He was fined $350 and had his driver's license suspended for 90 days, according to state court records.

In the latest incident, Rodriguez was stopped on the Moanalua Freeway near Fort Shafter at 11:05 p.m. Thursday , police said. He was booked for driving under the influence and released at 1:30 a.m. on $1,000 bail.

Rodriquez is scheduled to appear in Honolulu District Court on March 13. Rodriguez could not be reached for comment last night.

SUSPECT IN 3 BANK ROBBERIES ARRESTED

Police on Thursday arrested a man suspected of robbing three Honolulu banks, a CrimeStoppers news release said.

Ronald Manning, 49, was arrested on Lumiauau Street about 2 p.m.

Manning had been sought in connection with robberies of First Hawaiian Bank's Pearl City branch Tuesday and two banks on Wednesday — First Hawaiian's Māpunapuna branch and American Savings Bank in Kalihi.
