Advertiser Staff

Coast Guard and Maui Fire Department crews yesterday were searching for a snorkeler who was reported missing near the Aston Ka'anapali resort on Maui about 11:30 a.m. yesterday.

Bryce Esler, 20, described as a visitor, was snorkeling alone. He was wearing black shorts.

A rescue helicopter crew from Air Station Barbers Point, a Coast Guard Station Maui boat crew and Maui Fire Department personnel searched offshore near the resort.

Coast Guard crews were on scene at noon after receiving a call from the Maui Fire Department at about 11:45 a.m. and planned to continue the search throughout the night.

Anyone with information on Esler's whereabouts is asked to call Coast Guard Sector Honolulu at 842-2600.
