CFB: Oregon coach not ready to take action against James

Associated Press

EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon coach Chip Kelly says he’s not ready to take disciplinary action against LaMichael James, the star tailback arrested this week on domestic violence charges.

At a press conference Friday in Eugene, Kelly said there “can’t be a rush to judgment” and indicated he would wait to see how the court case unfolds before deciding whether to punish last season’s freshman sensation.
James’ girlfriend told police he choked her and threw her to the ground during an argument.
James pleaded not guilty Wednesday and was released from jail the following the afternoon.
The arrest was the third for Oregon this offseason, prompting criticism of the coach who took the Ducks to the Rose Bowl in his first season.
