Mobi PCS has activated a new Big Island cellular site at Yokohama Bay that will enhance its 3G network on the Leeward Coast.

The new site boosts coverage along Farrington Highway from Makaha to Kaena Point State Park, Mobi PCS said.
Mobi said its 3G network handles an average of 1.5 to 2 million calls per day, with dropped-call rates of less than 0.8 percent on Oahu. Mobi PCS is the only locally operated wireless network in Hawaii.
