Hawaiian Airlines' earnings soar in 2009 as it flies record 8.3M passengers

The earnings Hawaiian Airlines’ parent soared more than fourfold last year as it flew a record 8.3 million passengers.
Net income totaled $116.7 million, or $2.22 a diluted share in 2009, up from $28.6 million or 57 cents a share the year before.
In the fourth quarter, Hawaiian Holdings Inc. earned $35 million, or 66 cents a diluted share, helped by a one-time $25 million tax benefit. That compared with a loss of $11.9 million, or 23 cents a diluted share during the same quarter a year earlier.
