Drunken-driving suspect indicted in deadly crash
A Makakilo woman was indicted on a manslaughter charge yesterday for allegedly killing a man while driving drunk last year.
Kristin M. Mancao, 27, was driving a sport utility vehicle on July 25 at 74 mph in a 30 mph zone when she ran a red light at a Kapolei intersection and hit a Corvette operated by Dean Gomes, Deputy Prosecutor Victoria Kapp said in court.
Gomes was killed at the scene of the collision, which occurred at about 1 a.m., Kapp said.
Two hours after the collision, Mancao's blood-alcohol level was tested and found to be more than twice the legal limit for operating a vehicle, Kapp said.
Mancao has no prior criminal record, according to the Hawai'i Criminal Justice Data Center.
She and a 28-year-old Kapolei man who was a passenger in her car were not injured.
