Makakilo woman indicted on manslaughter charge in traffic fatality
A Makakilo woman was indicted on a manslaughter charge Thursday for allegedly killing a man while driving drunk last year.
Kristin M. Mancao, 27, was driving a sports utility vehicle in July at "74 miles per hour in a 30-mile zone" when she ran a red light at a Kapolei intersection and struck a Corvette operated by Dean Gomes, Deputy Prosecutor Victoria Kapp said in court.
Gomes was killed at the scene of the collision, which occurred at about 1 a.m., said the prosecutor.
Two hours after the collision, Mancao's blood alcohol level was tested and found to be more than twice the legal limit for operating a vehicle, according to Kapp.
Mancao has no prior criminal record, according to the Hawai'i Criminal Justice Data Center.
She and a 28-year-old Kapolei man who was a passenger in her car were unharmed.
