Change machine stolen from laundromat at shopping mall

Advertiser Staff

Kaua'i police say someone broke into the laundromat in the 'Ele'ele Shopping Center Monday night or early Tuesday morning and stole a wall-mounted change machine.

The theft follows attempted thefts of a soft-drink vending machine from the Kōloa Big Save market on Saturday and an ATM from the Anchor Cove Shopping Center in Nāwiliwili on Friday.

Someone dragged the vending machine from the market but left it on Waikomo Road. Police said the ATM was damaged.

Police are urging owners of businesses with coin-operated or cash-dispensing machines, especially in remote areas, to take safety precautions.

Police also are asking anyone who sees any such machines being transported late at night or early in the morning to call police dispatch at 241-1711 or CrimeStoppers at 241-1887.
