Model planes take flight at annual air show on Maui
"Maui's Only Air Show" takes off Saturday morning at the old Pu'unēnē Airport, with model airplane flight demonstrations, pylon racing and World War I and II dogfights, the Maui News reported.
Flight simulators on laptop computers will allow people to practice flying an airplane. And some in the crowd will get a chance to fly model aircraft.
The annual event, sponsored by Maui RC Modelers, is in its seventh year. It runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the flying field off Mokulele Highway behind the drag strip at Maui Motor Sports Park.
Admission is free.
Most of the 50 members of the nonprofit club will take turns flying their aircraft during the show, said Steve Groff, club president.
