A man who was in police custody caused a disturbance at The Queen's Medical Center yesterday morning, police said, resulting in minor injuries to a police officer and causing more than a dozen other officers to respond to the situation.

Police said Wayne Naholowaa, 38, of Mililani Mauka, was being held in the cellblock at the main police station on Beretania Street when he complained of chest pains about 11 a.m. yesterday.

An officer took Naholowaa to the hospital emergency room, where he began to threaten the officer and workers, police said.

The officer radioed for help, and other officers showed up at the hospital to subdue Naholowaa, who had broken free momentarily, police said.

Naholowaa was arrested about noon on Tuesday in Kapolei after his wife, 38, told police he threatened to harm her with a shotgun, rifle and hunting knife while holding her against her will during a 3:30 a.m. argument at their home.

Naholowaa was charged Wednesday with three counts of first-degree terroristic threatening.
