UC Santa Barbara sweeps past Warriors in volleyball

UC Santa Barbara swept Hawai'i, 30-27, 30-25, 30-28, in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men's volleyball tonight at Santa Barbara, Calif.

Hawai'i is 17-9 overall and 13-8 in the conference. UCSB is 13-15 and 9-12. The two teams meet again tomorrow.

UH will need to win tomorrow along with a loss by either Cal State Northridge or Pepperdine to earn one of the league's top four spots and host a first-round MPSF Tournament match.

Jonas Umlauft led the Warriors with a match-high 21 kills, while Joshua Walker added nine.

Jeff Menzel led the Gauchos with 16 kills.

UH hit .232 to UCSB's .336.
