Advertiser Staff

Marisco's shipyard at the Barbers Point Deep Draft Harbor in Kapolei will receive more than $1 million for equipment upgrades needed to expand its services.

The shipyard is the largest commercial drydock in Hawaii and is used by the military and private businesses.

A statement from U.S. Sens. Daniel K. Inouye and Daniel K. Akaka said Marisco would receive $1,079,224 to buy cranes, forklifts, welding machines, compressors and a dust collector.

The money comes from the U.S. Transportation Department's Assistance to Small Shipyards program.
