Waipahu woman arrested in shooting makes court appearance

Advertiser Staff

A 24-year-old Waipahu woman arrested in connection with a shooting Saturday afternoon in Whitmore Village made her initial appearance in District Court Tuesday.

Grace L. Tagaolo-Savea is charged with first-degree attempted murder, five counts of attempted second-degree murder, failure to properly store a firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, first-degree terroristic threatening and unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.

The shooting occurred around 12:30 p.m. Saturday on Kani Kani Place. Witnesses told police an argument had broken out at a home there and Tagaolo-Savea fired several shots at a group of people, according to a police statement filed in District Court. No one was injured.

Tagaolo-Savea then reportedly got into a truck owned by one of the victims and tried to drive away. When the car stalled, the woman fled with her boyfriend in his car, police said. When that vehicle stopped near the intersection of Ahe Ahe Avenue and Kani Kani Place, Tagaolo-Savea allegedly fired more shots at the victims, the statement said.

Police were later able to contact the two suspects separately by phone, and they agreed to surrender near California Avenue in Wahiawa.
