Rally against school furloughs planned for this afternoon at State Capitol

The Save Our Schools Hawaii sit-in to end public school furloughs will hold a rally on the steps of the State Capitol on Beretania Street today at 5:30. p.m. to support the sit-in and renew its call for an end to school furloughs.

Organizers said there will be a demonstration of support for the sit-in and the seven people who were issued citations on Friday. There will also be a plea for all parties to work together to end public school furloughs.

The people planning the protest said teachers, students and community members will participate. There will also be poets, storytellers and musicians performing. organizers said.
