A Sand Island pet retailer reported Wednesday that a person stole a Tibetan Spaniel valued at $1,699 from its store.

The theft happened about 1:30 p.m. from the Pet's Central puppy headquarters on Alahao Place off Sand Island Access Road.

Someone went into the store, grabbed a puppy from a playpen and ran out the door, the store said.

The 3-month-old male puppy is 6 pounds, 1 ounce.

The store called police.

The store said the dog can be returned to the store, no questions asked.
